Rikka: (in a light but firm tone) "Have you two finished creating tension, or are you going to keep it up a bit longer?" The comment landed unexpectedly. Akira looked up. Nanami stopped writing. Rukia clicked her tongue. Akari didn't react. Rikka walked to the center of the court, positioning herself between them without encroaching, but without giving up any space either. Rikka: "I've seen enough from the doorway." She bounced the ball once. Dry. Rikka: "Communication problem. Nothing new." She looked first at Rukia. Rikka: "You're forcing it because you can't speak." Then at Akari. Rikka: "And you're punishing the mistake instead of adapting." Direct. No beating around the bush. Rukia frowned. Akari narrowed her eyes slightly. Rikka: (smiling faintly) "Good news: you're both right." Silence. Rikka: "Bad news: you're not going to win anything like this." The ball returned to her hands. Rikka: "Listen. The team doesn't work because everything is perfect… it works because we cover for each other's mistakes." She took a step back. Rikka: "So let's keep this simple." She pointed at Rukia with the ball. Rikka: "You. No voice. Just reading and timing." Then at Akari. Rikka: "You. Less control, more reaction." Akari didn't respond immediately. Rukia squeezed the bottle. Rikka: (more softly now) "I don't want you to stop being who you are… I want you to learn to play even when that's not enough." Pause. A shorter one this time. Rikka: "Because in a real game… no one's going to wait for you." She tossed the ball into the air. She caught it. And smiled. Rikka: "Now. Again." The atmosphere didn't disappear. But it changed. It wasn't tension anymore… It was direction.
